A Brief About The Project

Art is Everywhere is an annual recycling workshop project that focuses on waste-to-art initiative. It was initiated in 2005 by Ayodeji Adewunmi in collaboration with the Alliance Francaise Enugu to:

  • open up the creative minds of the young artists to the endless possibilities in their immediate environment.
  • provide an avenue to train artists and the less privileged in the society on how to make a living from recycling.
  • generate exchanges between local artists and artists from other countries with similar objective.
  • and to highlight environmental degradation.

The maiden edition of this project was in April 2005 with nine artists and two instructors participating. Based on the success of the maiden edition, the second edition, Art is Everywhere 2 was organised in May 2006 with 20 participants including trained and untrained artists. Products from the workshop were exhibited in December 2006 at the Alliance Francaise, Enugu and were documented in form of catalogue.

In recognition of the quality of some of the products of these these workshops, Ayo Adewunmi was invited to participate in African Fibre and Fashion Accessory Exhibition at Oagadougou, Burkina Faso in June 2006. Three of the workshop participants (Ayo Adewunmi, Tony Odey and Okechukwu Eze) represented the project at the show.
